FoxT Delivers New Reporting Tools for Access Management

Powerful reporting capabilities help organizations verify compliance requirements

Palo Alto, CA - April 23, 2007 - Fox Technologies, Incorporated (www.foxt.com), a leading provider of enterprise compliance and access management solutions, today announced the release of new reporting capabilities for its industry leading FoxT IT Controls (BoKS) access management solution. The new package, BoKS Reporting Tools, is a set of capabilities that can be used to generate reports containing "snapshots" of the BoKS access management server log and access routes.

IT organizations are facing intricate requirements from auditors demanding evidence to show they are in compliance with configuration management and security policies. User role definitions and permissions need to comply with established security baselines unless an approved and verified change management procedure can motivate the deviation, which in turn should trigger a redefinition of security policies.

To efficiently support corresponding auditing and IT management processes, and to allow flexible querying of audit logs, FoxT adds BoKS Reporting Tools to its BoKS Manager based infrastructure. Using the BoKS Reporting Tools, auditors and system administrators alike will be able to answer questions like "who has access to which service on which host?" and "who did actually access this service during the last three months?" Comparing the results with a previously approved baseline, organizations are able to support an efficient compliance management process.

"Our existing FoxT IT Controls (BoKS) customers are in environments facing increasing pressure to comply with new regulations" states Per Eliasson, Product Manager for FoxT IT Controls (BoKS). "The new BoKS Reporting Tools enable them to achieve cost efficient compliance management in their data centers."

Key features of BoKS Reporting Tools include:

  • Query system for the audit log
  • Query system for access control rules
  • Canned reports for the most common types of queries
  • Command interface for customized queries
  • To minimize the impact on the infrastructure, reports can be generated from a dedicated replica server without any other servicing tasks or reports can be launched in batch mode, scripted to run when the network is off peak
  • Support for separation of system administrator and auditor roles granting auditors the ability to generate a query environment on a separate client host communicating securely over SSH with the BoKS security server.
  • Reports are produced from intermediary SQL data, eliminating direct access and the possibility of damage to the BoKS Master database and audit log file
  • Intermediate output is stored in the form of an SQL query script, from which customized queries can be made, enabling a real-time snap shot of the access that was available at a specified point-in-time
