FoxT Unveils Additional Capabilities for Controlling Privileged and Root Accounts
Mountain View, CA - June 23, 2008 - Fox Technologies, Incorporated, (FoxT), a leading provider of comprehensive Enterprise Access Control Management solutions, today announced the release of BoKS Password Manager 1.0, an enterprise tool for managing and monitoring access to sensitive privileged account passwords.
"Insufficient controls for privileged and root accounts, which lead to poor traceability and increased security risks, have become a top-of-mind concern for managers, auditors, and analysts alike," stated Per Eliasson, VP of Engineering at FoxT. "This new addition to the BoKS product line extends organizations' control of privileged account passwords and enables them to better satisfy auditors while boosting operational efficiency."
FoxT's BoKS Access Control for Servers already helps organizations control access to privileged accounts by requiring explicit authorization for privileged operations, and also provides detailed audit logs that record privileged operations including forensic-level keystroke logging.
The new BoKS Password Manager enables organizations running BoKS Access Control for Servers to add another layer of granularity and control over privileged accounts with the ability to centrally manage and monitor how users access and utilize privileged and root account passwords across multi-vendor UNIX, Linux, Virtual, and Windows domains.
Using BoKS Password Manager, organizations are able to:
- Define a set of user accounts targeted for password management
- Granularly control access to and sharing of managed passwords
- Configure advanced checkout options for managed passwords
- Automatically comply with company password policies through automated changes of managed passwords
- Maintain a list of old passwords per managed account for contingency
- Log all password checkout and usage to a central audit log
"Effectively protecting privileged passwords continues to be a number one enterprise audit challenge," said Subhash Tantry, CEO at FoxT. "We are committed to helping organizations meet this challenge head-on by providing more powerful strategies for securing passwords across multi-vendor, virtual and non-virtual server platforms, using a common access control management solution."
